Welcome to Dear Friends, a mobile application and website operated by My Dear Friends LLC (“MDF,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use the Dear Friends app, visit mydearfriends.org, or participate in our Creator Alliance.


2. Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information:

  • Information you provide – account e-mail, display name, profile photo, feedback, customer-support messages.
  • Automatically collected information – device identifiers, IP address, browser type, operating‑system version, usage and interaction logs, crash reports, cookies or similar technologies.
  • Payment information – transaction identifiers and subscription status from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store (we do not receive full card numbers).
  • Creator information – professional credentials, tax identification (SSN or EIN), government‑issued ID, Wise or bank details, content‑performance metrics, professional bio, headshot, and optional social‑media links.

3. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Dear Friends app and website.
  • Authenticate users, secure accounts, and prevent fraud.
  • Process subscriptions and creator payouts.
  • Personalise content recommendations and marketing messages (with consent where required).
  • Respond to enquiries and provide customer support.
  • Comply with legal, accounting, and tax obligations.

4. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA / UK)
We rely on one or more of the following legal bases: performance of a contract, legitimate interests (such as service security and analytics), consent (for optional marketing), and compliance with legal obligations.


5. Sharing of Information
We disclose information only as necessary:

  • Service providers that host data, process payments, perform analytics, or verify identity.
  • Creators receive aggregated engagement data for their own content.
  • Regulators, courts, or law‑enforcement when required by law or to protect rights and safety.
  • Successors in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.
  • We do not sell or rent personal information.

6. Data Retention
We keep data only as long as needed:

  • User-account data – while the account is active, then up to 90 days after deletion for backup integrity.
  • Subscription and payment records – seven years, to satisfy accounting and tax rules.
  • Usage analytics – up to 24 months, then stored only in aggregate form.
  • Creator data:
     – Tax documents and payment records: seven years after the creator relationship ends.
    – Content‑performance data: for the duration of the partnership plus three years.
    - Identity‑verification documents: for the duration of the partnership plus one year.

7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, your rights may include access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and objection to certain processing, as well as withdrawal of consent at any time.

Creator‑specific rights

  • Real‑time access to performance analytics.
  • Ability to remove content from the platform with 30 days’ notice.
  • Right to audit MDF revenue calculations once per calendar year (costs refunded if underpayment exceeds 5 %).
  • Access to monthly earnings statements and full payment history.

Additional CCPA rights for California residents

  • Right to know, access, or delete personal information.
  • Right to opt‑out of certain data disclosures.
  • California creators also have the right to opt-out of promotional uses of their likeness.

8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No system is completely secure; please protect your credentials.


9. International Transfers
Information may be stored and processed in the United States or other countries. Where required, we rely on approved transfer mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses.


10. Children’s Privacy
Dear Friends is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Parents who believe we have collected such information should contact us for deletion.


11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in‑app or via e‑mail, and the “Last Updated” date will change accordingly.
