You can delete your Dear Friends account at any time, in the app or by email.
Delete your account in the app
The steps are the same on iPhone and Android:
- Open Dear Friends and sign in.
- Go to Profile, then Settings.
- Tap Delete Account, choose a reason, and confirm.
Your account is deleted as soon as you confirm.
Ask us by email
If you cannot use the app, email support@mydearfriends.org from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We may ask you to confirm the request before we delete the account.
What is deleted
When you confirm:
- You are signed out on every device and the account can no longer be used.
- Sign in with Apple or Google is unlinked from the account.
If you used Sign in with Apple and the app says the Apple authorization could not be removed automatically, remove Dear Friends under Sign in with Apple in your Apple ID settings.
30 days after you delete the account, we permanently delete:
- Your name, email address, phone number, password and profile photo.
- Your journal entries, playlists, favorites, pinned tracks, listening history and reminders.
- Your notifications, poll answers and support messages, including attachments.
- Your feedback and newsletter sign-up made with the same email address.
- Your personal usage profile. App usage events are kept only without any link to you, for overall statistics.
What is kept, and for how long
- Subscription and payment records are kept for seven years to meet accounting and tax rules. They are linked only to an anonymous account number.
- Security logs (for example sign-in attempts) are kept for up to one year.
- Copies in our backups are removed as the backups expire, within 90 days of deletion.
See our Privacy Policy for details.
Subscriptions
Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. Cancel it in your Apple ID subscription settings or in Google Play.
